Tongue-in-cheek animated video about software piracy to generate awareness and drive registrations to their Registered and Authorised Refurbisher programmes.

Microsoft wanted a creative digital approach to complement the existing off-line promotion of their anti-piracy campaign. The aim was to raise the prospect of legal action against PC refurbishers and resellers that use illegal software but in a light-hearted and informative way.

We suggested an animated video that could be translated and sent to a target list refurbishers and resellers across Europe. To maximise exposure and increase the chances of it going viral the film is hosted on global video sharing sites as well as Microsoft's corporate website.

Our creative team produced a storyboard and wrote the script before turning their ideas into a fully-fledged animated film. It follows Bob, an unscrupulous reseller who comes unstuck after a celebrity's refurbished PC crashes. Watch the video here to find out what happens to Bob…
